are you inside or outside your relationships?

I came across this brilliant TED talk by Renny Gleeson a few weeks back and it made me very thoughtful about how our social environment has changed over the years. Due to technology & social networks many of us are no longer inside our relationships but outside looking in. No doubt this would have occurred in the past but now technology & the environment support us in viewing/sharing our relationships rather than enjoying & participating in them. Check out Renny’s talk & let me know in the comments how you feel about his perspective. Its funny & enjoyable to watch whilst making a statement about our technological social life.

Maybe we are living the geek’s version of being social and in relationship?  As you know a high percentage of geeks are intraverted????  So we may now be living an introverted extroversion????  See an old post of mine that was published in the book Blog08 extrovert and introvert matches.

Misrepresentation

Recently reading about the MySpace ruling last month on the MySpace suicide case in CNet news.  The article which was titled MySpace ruling could lead to jail for lying online daters quoted about the impacts of this ruling on the web:

Web site terms of service, which end users universally ignore, suddenly have teeth: violating them is a federal hacking offense, punishable with jail time. This could mean serious trouble for people who lie about their age, weight, or marital status in their online dating profiles.

It certainly makes the world go around as it guarantees that most species on the planet will be perpetuated. In relationships it also provides us humans with an intense level of intimacy, release of pent up energy and a source of lotsa fun! However we all express our sexuality in different ways and have different needs in that area.

relationship chemistry investigated

we have all experienced chemistry with someone else and in spite of this widespread experience, we are not sure about exactly what it is or how it happens.  Online dating sites try to determine it, because if this element is missing in a relationship, then it may easily fizzle or not happen at all! Everyone knows it by its absence or presence but most have no idea where it comes from. Match.com even created a site called Chemistry.com which attempts to determine this element in a dating site. The site is based on Dr Helen Fisher’s research into why people are attracted to each other. The thing I notice about all the theories about chemistry between people is that what is often not recognized is that chemistry is a different sort of experience for different sorts of folks. It seems there is even a movie around called The Chemistry of Dating.
