single & loving it…

although we don’t often focus on being or staying single, there are huge benefits & it can be very fulfilling. Many people remain single and refuse to be part of a couple and are perfectly happy.  And many others hold out for the right match, which may not be as easy to find as some dating sites will have you believe.  You may have seen another post that I wrote Settling for Good Enough, (some of us just can’t)!

online or offline dating?

I read two conflicting articles this week about which is the best avenue to find a partner online or offline dating.  Online dating certainly has its problems, lying, sites lack of integrity, the gap between virtual & reality, inability to identify chemistry until meeting to mention just a few.  Offline dating has a longer history and can still be subject to lying but there is no middleman with lack of integrity as in the dating sites, there is no virtual gap & chemistry can usually be identified immediately.

the era of techno romance

romance may have been relegated to romantic comedies these days and ostensibly has changed considerably from the past.  However there is still a need for romance in our relationships.  If we have sacrificed adventure in life then we need to bring that spirit of adventure back into our romances. But it seems that we are marching ever onwards continuing to remove the romance from our relationships?

getting the complete picture about a partner

if we are looking for a romantic partner it is important to get the complete & whole picture of who they are rather than breaking all their attributes down into pieces & analyzing them with our mind too much.  Unfortunately this is just what online dating sites rely on in profiles, where all interests & personality traits are listed.  Dan Ariely, Director of The Center for Advanced Hindsight, thinks that this encourages superficial assessments of others & causes a lot of dissatisfaction with online dating sites.

online dating FAIL

Online dating FAILS because sites often don’t deliver what their customers need, great matches with potential partners. The gap between virtual & real is a big challenge, but cannot be fixed by tricks of SEO & subterfuge by sites. We are on the threshold of changing times due to technology & this comes down to a challenge to stretch the gray matter & use new creative ways to solve the problems caused by this gap. Unfortunately the online dating industry generally speaking has never been innovative & has contributed to its own troubles & lack of faith from their customers.
