finding your ‘other half’
Carl Jung postulated the theory that our ‘other half’ dwells within us and that we look for that in the outer world when we have relationships with others. We project this ‘other half’ onto others but obviously our partners have to have some ‘hooks’ for our projections. When we find a good match for ourselves then this usually indicates that the ‘other’ more closely resembles our ‘other half’. If we have done a reasonable amount of work of self individuation, we can also see the ‘real person’ shining through our own projections. Our ‘other half’ exists within the psyche to trigger experiences that the Self can use to become whole or individuate. For online dating companies finding this secret in a formula or a data bank provides the key to becoming successful at matching couples. Although by the look of most of these sites, this is yet to be achieved successfully. What escapes them is the ‘human factor’ and this mystery which makes itself hard to be drilled down to a formula or databank probability.
Technology is brilliant and I am in the front rows to applaud many of the changes to business & our personal lives that it brings. However when it comes to determining a person’s ‘other half’, I always turn to astrology. Through Jungian Astrology there is a very simple way of identifying the basics of our ‘other half’. The degree & aspects of the Descendant in an astrological chart reflect our ‘other half’. It is also helpful to read the Sabian symbol of the degree of the zodiac of the Descendant. This point of course means this is my experience of those with whom I partner. That then pulls this experience from my partners alongside the obvious hooks that may also exist within them. We can be dance partners as long as our own music is appealing to the other person. Psychological assessments which are offered by some sites can give an insight as to with whom we may be compatible. But it is harder to get the subtle quality of which the Descendant in our natal chart evokes, the movie that we project upon our partners. So next time you look at your partner, try to see who they are under your projection.
