social media is making us more social

a study in Texas has decided that social media is making us more social.  Who would have knew?  Good news for facebook, I think, because their privacy issues & ownership of our data still give me great concern.  However social networks do provide a great platform for us to keep in touch with friends & family, no matter where they are in the world!  It seems everyone likes to complete their relationship status, as per the pie chart below:

eharmony threatens human survival: ‘similar’ is not all there is to matching couples

my matching algorithm consists of similar & opposite qualities, because after all opposite is where the chemistry, the glue so to speak, in a relationship exists.  I read an interesting post this week where a scientist from a fertility clinic (trying to sell an iphone app?) claimed that eharmony matching threatens human survival as their matching principle is similar.  Apparently this has implications for human evolution.

asking for (& then getting) what you want..

I wanted to write today about the contradiction that women often have in their personal relationships.  The contradiction is that women often can be great relaters but often find themselves not receiving what they want from others in relationships.  At my other blog EZebis, I have been interviewing venture capitalists & women founders about the shortfall in venture for women.  Some have pointed out that often women hesitate to ask for what they want & also may often tolerate difficult relationships & people in their personal & work lives despite often having strong ability in relating & understanding people.

surviving romantic rejection

surviving romantic rejection can be challenging, depending on how long the romance actually lasted & how intense the romance was.  A new study has identified that Love is similar to a drug addiction & so rejection can be a cold turkey that hits you from left field.  Of course the study didn’t mention that if the romance has gone past its expiry date that it can be a relief. And that chocolate has incredible antidote properties for romantic rejection, not sure how it holds up for drug addiction but women all over the world can testify to its amazing properties when facing romantic rejection.
